What started as a gift for a friend became a studio, a mission, and a growing family of 444 breeds — each one crafted with the same care.
It Started at the Beach
It started at the beach. Family, friends, and a conversation about art. Our friend Lindsey — a golden retriever lover through and through — described exactly what she wanted: a golden with a tennis ball in his mouth and that irresistible "let's play" look in his eyes.
We made it. A tile artwork piece. And it was a hit.
Then the requests started. "Can you do my goldie, but with a stick instead?" Then: "I love it, but my golden is actually a crème." Then: "Can you do something completely custom for my dog?"
By Halloween, we were making adorable sheet ghost luminaries — dogs draped in little ghost costumes, glowing softly as nightlights. People couldn't get enough.
They Told Us What They Wanted
Here's the truth: we didn't come up with the idea that every breed deserves its own art, lighting, and decor. Our customers did.
One request at a time, they showed us what was missing — a golden with a stick, a crème instead of a classic, a completely custom piece. They weren't just buying art. They were asking us to see their dog.
So we figured out how to do exactly that. 444 breeds and counting. Each one crafted with the same attention, the same care, the same love — whether it's a Labrador or a Hokkaido.

Every piece ships from our studio in Knoxville, Tennessee — nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. There's something about this place that finds its way into the work. The warmth, the craft tradition, the pace that lets you do things right.
Wender Studios is not a factory. It's a family operation where every luminary is inspected, finished, and packed by hand before it reaches your door.
