"The first time you meet a Chow Chow, you think you understand what's happening. Big fluffy dog. Looks like a lion crossed with a teddy bear. Adorable. You reach out your hand and, nothing. No tail wag. No face lick."

The Chow Chow experience
You know you're a Chow Chow owner when...
●The lion's mane. That impossibly thick ruff around their face that makes every Chow look like royalty, and the tumbleweeds of fur that roll through your house like you live on the open prairie.
●The blue-black tongue that startles every single person who sees it for the first time. 'Is your dog okay?!' Yes. That's just their tongue. It's always been that color. We promise.
●That dignified refusal to perform. You said sit. They heard you. They already know how to sit. They simply don't see the point of proving it again right now.
●The way they pick one person, their person, and that's it. Everyone else gets polite tolerance at best. You got the whole heart.
●Brushing sessions that feel like shearing a very opinionated sheep. The undercoat comes out in clouds. Your vacuum cleaner has filed a formal complaint.
