Flat Coated Retriever

There's a reason Flat-Coated Retriever people call them the Peter Pan of dogs — they literally never grow up. At one year old, a Flat-Coat is a goofy, tail-wagging tornado of joy. At eight years old? Same dog. Same ridiculous enthusiasm for a tennis ball, a mud puddle, or the simple fact that you exist. Most breeds mellow out. Flat-Coats just... don't. And here's what nobody tells you before you get one: that perpetual puppyhood isn't exhausting. It's medicine. You cannot be in a bad mood around a Flat-Coat. It's physically impossible. They'll shove a soggy toy into your lap, wag their entire body — not just the tail, the ENTIRE body — and look at you with those dark, shining eyes that say 'Isn't this the best day ever? Isn't EVERY day the best day ever?' And the worst part? They're right. They're always right. The world is objectively better with a Flat-Coat in it, and they spend every waking moment proving it. They are pure, distilled joy wearing a glossy black or liver coat, and once you've loved one, every other breed feels just a little too serious.
