Leave a Harrier alone and they'll redecorate your house with their feelings. But bring them along? Into the woods, down the trail, around the block for the fourth time today? They're the happiest, most agreeable, tail-waggiest companion you could ask for. They'll match your pace, check in with that big brown-eyed gaze, and then immediately veer off because they caught a scent that is apparently the most important smell in the entire history of smells. You'll stand there holding a leash attached to a dog whose nose is welded to the ground, spinning in excited circles, and think: this is exactly what I signed up for. And somehow, it is.
