Old English Sheepdog

You hear your Old English Sheepdog before you see them — that deep, distinctive bear-like bark echoing through the house as they shuffle toward you with hair covering their eyes and a gait that looks like a rolling gray-and-white thundercloud. You've stopped asking how they can see through all that fur because clearly they navigate by sonar, instinct, or pure stubbornness. They lean their entire 70-pound body against your legs while you're trying to cook dinner, herding you away from the stove the same way their ancestors moved sheep across English hillsides. Your OES collects children, cats, and houseguests into one room because their herding brain cannot rest until everyone is accounted for. Their coat is a full-time job and their drool is a design feature, but when that enormous shaggy head lands in your lap and you can just barely make out two dark eyes peering up at you through a curtain of fur — you wouldn't trade a single tangled mat.
