Polish Lowland Sheepdog

The first time you meet a Polish Lowland Sheepdog, you think you're looking at a mop that learned to smile. A shaggy, floor-length curtain of fur with two bright eyes peeking through like headlights in a blizzard. Then that mop walks over, leans its entire body against your leg with the gravitational pull of a small planet, and gazes up at you through all that hair with an expression that says 'I've been keeping track of everyone in this room and you were the last one not accounted for.' Because that's what PONs do — they account for things. People, children, other dogs, the cat who thinks she's sneaky, the neighbor who walks by at 4:17 every afternoon. Nothing escapes them. They were bred on the lowland plains of Poland to manage flocks without being told what to do, and they brought every ounce of that bossy, independent, I-know-better-than-you energy into your living room. A PON doesn't wait for instructions — a PON has already assessed the situation, formed a plan, and started implementing it while you were still putting on your shoes. They'll herd your kids away from the street. They'll block the pizza delivery person at the door with a low, serious look that says 'State your business.' They'll rearrange their toys into a system only they understand. And through it all, under that ridiculous mop of fur, they are watching you with a devotion so steady and quiet it can sneak up on you.
